Memorial Scholarship
The Jeff Daugherty Memorial Scholarship recognizes students who have completed high school, are seeking to further their education, and have demonstrated outstanding Christian service within school, church, and community. The scholarship is provided by the Daugherty Family in memory of their son Jeff, who died from a brain tumor, to honor his love of learning.
Eligibility
The applicant must be an active member of Reynoldsburg Baptist Church for at least one year by the time of application. Exceptions can be granted to applicants who have been members less than one year and will be considered by the Scholarship Committee on a case by case basis.
The applicant must also meet the following additional requirements:
- Post high school education bound student working toward a degree or certification.
- Minimum of a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) is required.
- In all cases, the scholarship committee has sole discretion to determine if eligibility requirements have been met.
Award
The scholarship has three tiers of award support:
- Tier 1: Associate’s degree or trade school, currently provides $2,275 per year (full-time)
- Tier 2: Bachelor’s degree, currently provides $5,300 per year (full-time)
- Tier 3: Graduate school, currently provides $4,800 per year (full time) [1]
The scholarship will be paid to the financial aid office of the college of choice and distributed evenly over the semesters.
Recipients will have the potential to renew the scholarship each year. The value of the scholarship will be determined by available funds.
Application Process
Please email the scholarship committee at rbcjdscholarship@gmail.com to request application materials. After receiving your email, you will be provided access to the online application and character reference forms. Regarding character references, first-time applicants will need three references. The three references should come from: a church leader, a school official (parent if home-schooled), and a church member. The references must be completed by someone who has observed you regularly over the year preceding the application date.
The applicant will also have an interview with the Scholarship Committee after applications have been submitted.
Please note: Applications for renewals and those out of school more than 5 years will be slightly different. Details about the application process for such students can be obtained by contacting the scholarship committee at the email address above.
The annual[2] application process deadline requires all application materials to be received by the committee by the first Sunday in June. The committee will attempt to notify applicants of results by the last Sunday in June.
